Mayawati questions Yogi government stance on non government madarsas
Lucknow: BSP supremo Mayawati has questioned the survey of madrasas. Mayawati said that non-government madrasas do not want to be a burden on the government, then why interfere in them?
She said that if a survey is conducted specifically for budget provision for the salary of teachers and staff of madrasas of government madrassa board, then will the UP government include these private madrasas in the grant list and make them government madrassas? The BSP government had included 100 madrasas in the UP board.
Mayawati said that by forming a special team by the UP government, the work of the much-discussed survey of private madrassas dependent on people’s donations has been completed, according to which more than 7,500 ‘unrecognized’ madrasas are engaged in imparting education to poor children.
She said that earlier in the name of ‘Madrasa Modernization’, instead of ensuring the higher education of their choice to the students there, they insulted the education of the students and those madrasas through training of driving, mechanic, carpenter etc. She said that although the condition of government schools in UP and all other states of the country as well as the whole education system, which is getting worse and worse, is not hidden from anyone, yet the governments are careless and indifferent because most of the children from poor and weaker sections study there.
7500 madrasas which are not recognized
The survey of non-government recognized madrassas being conducted by the Uttar Pradesh government had started on September 10. The work was completed on 20 October. In the survey conducted for 1 month and 5 days, about 7500 madrasas have been found in the state, which are not recognized.
Moradabad has the highest number of 585 unrecognized madrasas, 350 in Basti and 240 in Muzaffarnagar. Talking about the capital Lucknow, 100 madrasas are not recognized here. That is, five times more madrasas than Lucknow are in Moradabad and three times more in Basti district. Apart from this, 90 madrasas in Prayagraj-Mau, 95 in Azamgarh and 85 in Kanpur have been found unrecognized.
