Kanpur: Under Kanpur Metro Rail Project, the primary section from IIT-Kanpur to Motijheel is ready and No Objection Certificate (NOC) has been granted by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to start passenger services on this section. This month, from December 20, 2021 to December 22, 2021, CMRS inspected the primary section of Kanpur Metro Rail Project, after which this NOC has been granted.
On December 28, 2021 on the long section, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will throw open the Kanpur Metro on December 29, 2021 from 6 am onwards, the passengers will be able to avail the services of Kanpur Metro.
During his three-day detailed inspection, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, Janak Kumar Garg inspected the Metro Track, Stations, Receiving Sub-station and Operation Control Center inside the depot at Gurudev Square etc. He also did a train trial between IIT and Motijheel. During his inspection, he mainly took stock of the provisions and arrangements related to safety of passengers in metro premises and trains and evaluated them.
On this success, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd MD Kumar Keshav said, “Now we have obtained all necessary technical clearances and NOCs for operation of passenger services on the primary section of Kanpur Metro Project. Completing this work in a very short time frame of about 2 years is a big achievement.” Keshav also congratulated the General Consultants, Contractors, Vendors and Workers who have contributed in achieving this achievement. He expressed special gratitude to the people of Kanpur, with whose cooperation this was possible.
