Lucknow: A new ward, dialysis unit and operation theater were inaugurated in the Department of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. Along with this, the Nephrology department has been shifted to the new Emergency and Renal Transplant Center (EMRTC).
Director Prof RK Dhiman, on the occasion of inauguration of new ward, dialysis unit and OT, encouraged the employees of Nephrology and Dialysis Unit for their excellent contribution in starting EMRTC in a short span of time. Sanjay Gandhi PGI is well known for providing services to patients suffering from kidney disease not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in neighboring states of Bihar, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and neighboring countries of Nepal and Bangladesh. The EMRTC building was inaugurated on 8 January by Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Gradually the transfer process started and now the Nephrology department is completely shifted to this centre. The center is equipped with the most advanced system of reverse osmosis water plant with 97 general and private beds, 111 dialysis centers as well as Central Distribution System (CDS) of dialysate, which is unique, and the only government institution in India to have this facility.
