Lucknow: Returning to Balrampur Garden Ashok Marg after a decade and a half, the 10 day 19th National Book Fair will run from 23 September till Gandhi Jayanti. State’s Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak will inaugurate the book fair on September 23 at 5 pm.
Welcoming the representatives of media in a press conference organized by KT Foundation and Force One Books at the fair venue, organizer Manoj Singh Chandel said that this year’s theme – Every home library will make the dream of former President APJ Abdul Kalam come true. There is one more step in that direction.
Inaugurating the 11th Book Fair in 2013, the former President called upon children and youth to build a ‘home library’ with just 10 books, saying that good books last a lifetime. Counting the names of five favorite books including Gita, Quran and Light from Many Lamps, Missile Man said that parents and early teachers play an important role in educating children. Knowledge is what makes a person great and good books ignite the flame of our imagination.
He said that the credit for the success of the book fair goes to the participants, publishers and book lovers who come in large numbers. Many participants come here to come here except at book fairs held at other places in the country. This year a publisher is also coming to the fair with old and rare books. Book lovers can also take advantage of their services to preserve their rare books at the fair. Prominent personalities of different fields will also be honored in the fair.
About the National Book Fair of Lucknow, which is included in the five prestigious book fairs of the country, Aastha Dhal and Akarshan Jain told that the book lovers will get a minimum 10 percent discount in the fair. In the fair, government publishers including Rajkamal, Lokbharti, Prabhat, Kitab Ghar, Rajpal, Publications Institute, Sahita Sahits Mandal, New Book, Setu, Samyak, Nikhil Prakashan, Competition Darpan, Iktara, Publication Department, Hindi Sansthan, Urdu Academy, Sanskrit Sansthan including Yogda There will be about a hundred stalls of many other publications and educational items and food, including Ramakrishna Math. Even after this, the demand for stalls remains the same. We are sorry that there is a lack of space.
Director Akarsh Chandel informed that apart from the books of Ankit Chadha, Sanjeev Jaiswal Sanjay, Virendra Sarang, many books of Nikhil Prakashan Ira Publication and Hindi Vangmay Nidhi etc. are being released in the book fair. Among other major events, excerpts from Shivmurthy’s book will be recited, Viplav-4, Alice Munro, storyteller Shivani, biography of Stephen, Vinod Das and Anil Pathak’s compositions will be discussed and poetry and literature seminars will run regularly.
The protocol of Covid-19 will also be followed in the book fair. The closing ceremony will be held on October 2. Book lovers eagerly wait for the fair throughout the year and the 10-day long fair attracts thousands of readers several times. This year also a free stall for local authors to display their books and put them up for sale. Along with this, various competitions for children in fancy dress, dance, painting, cartoon making, essay writing, singing etc. are being organized online every day in conjunction with Jyoti Kiran Ratan due to lack of space at the venue. On this occasion, the organizers thanked the representatives of newspapers and electronic media.
Entry to the book fair is free and the fair will be open for book lovers from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm daily till October 2. There is ample arrangement of parking within Balrampur Garden.
