No lack of funds to carry out development works in Varanasi : CM Yogi
Varanasi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath (CM Yogi) held a meeting with the mayor and elected councilors at Circuit House . In the meeting, the Chief Minister told the councilors that for the first time the public has given such a huge majority in the Varanasi Municipal Corporation. A new saga of development has been written in the history of Banaras in the last nine years.
He (CM Yogi) said that the Prime Minister represents Kashi, the oldest city in the world. Councilors are the foundation stones in the development of the metropolis. He asked the councilors to sit with the citizens, listen to their problems and also take out a cleanliness rally. Making the city government realize the sense of responsibility, the Chief Minister said that the problems of the people should be resolved on priority.
Referring to the purpose of the meeting, the Chief Minister (CM Yogi) said that its main objective is the cleanliness of the city and the issuance of municipal bonds. The branding of the Municipal Corporation will be done only through cleanliness. Who will prepare for reform. He laid special emphasis on construction of new complexes in place of old dilapidated shops in the metropolitan area. He insisted on making changes in the housing sector as well. So that the standard of living of the people living in the slums can also be raised.
Municipal Corporation and Development Authority move ahead with new strategy
The Chief Minister (CM Yogi) said that the Municipal Corporation and Development Authority should move forward with a new strategy. Emphasizing on the participation of private sectors, he talked about making the Municipal Corporation self-reliant. Special emphasis was laid on increasing the budget of the Municipal Corporation from 837 crores to 2500 crores in the current financial year. Emphasis was placed on finding possibilities for this and implementing them. Giving an example, he said that in 2016-17 excise duty of Rs 12,000 crore was received from excise, which has now increased to Rs 52,000 crore. He told that in 2016-17 the budget of the UP government was three lakh crores, which has now increased to seven lakh crores. UP has become a revenue sir plus state, there is no shortage of money here. The UP government has freed 5.50 crore people from poverty and included them in the mainstream. Praising the preparations made during the last G-20 programme, he gave special emphasis to the people’s representatives to take it forward on the lines of public participation and mass movement.

The Chief Minister (CM Yogi) laid special emphasis on the development of City Forest in the city, removal of unauthorized hoardings for the beauty of the city, promotion of digital display boards. In the direction of Safe City, he laid special emphasis on the installation of CCTVs on a large scale after meeting with police, development authority, bankers, private institutions and entrepreneurs.

The Chief Minister (CM Yogi) said that there is no dearth of funds for the development of Kashi, he emphasized only on working with full commitment. After the month of Shravan, he insisted on organizing a big rally at the metropolitan level for cleanliness awareness. For the convenience of the tourists coming to the city, along with good traffic arrangements, the police and the municipal corporation were given special attention on the counseling of the tourist police. In the meeting, Municipal Commissioner Shipu Giri gave information about the present status of the Municipal Corporation before the Chief Minister through a presentation.
UP’s Minister of State for Stamp and Court Registration Fees (Independent Charge) Ravindra Jaiswal, Minister of State for Ayush and Food Security (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, former MLC Ashok Dhawan, former minister and MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, MLA Dr. Awadhesh Singh etc. were also present in the meeting.
