NTPC Rihand committed to safeguarding the environment – Sanjeev Kumar

Sonebhadra: Sonebhadra Chief General Manager (Rihand)’s talks with media representatives in conjunction with station management at Shivalik Guest House of NTPC’s Rihand Super Power Station were held in an atmosphere of joy and harmony.

In the event, Chief General Manager (Rihand)  Sanjeev Kumar, while answering the questions asked by the media representatives in a very simple and logical manner, said that the employees and officers of Rihand station have the ability to accept challenges and achieve success even in the most difficult circumstances.

He said that this station, which started from 500 MW, has today become a huge station with a production capacity of 3000 MW. NTPC Rihand has planned generation of 13635 MU at 90.61% PLF in FY 2023-24 till October 2023.

To prevent the increasing pollution from plants in the country, NTPC Rihand has taken an innovative initiative and the work of setting up FGD is in progress to prevent the sulfur dioxide emitted from the plant from going into the atmosphere. Project Head Shri Sanjeev Kumar gave detailed information about the activities of Rihand, achievements of the plant and CSR and social activities.  Sanjeev Kumar said that Rihand is the power plant with the highest production capacity in Uttar Pradesh, where a total of 3000 MW of electricity is being produced from coal. Shri Sanjeev said that Rihand has maintained its best position in terms of power generation as well as availability of 90.61% PLF.

Sanjeev said that Rihand has maintained its best position in terms of power generation as well as availability of 90.61% PLF. Discussing the efforts to prevent environmental pollution and preserve the environment, the project head said that Rihand is completely dedicated to environmental protection and to protect the environment from pollution, Rihand has so far planted more than 18500 trees using Miyawaki method.

Due to which greenery is prevalent in the plant area and surrounding areas.

In the field of alternative energy solar, the Chief General Manager said that the work of setting up a 20 MW solar plant at NTPC Rihand at a cost of about Rs 96 crore is also in progress, which will be completed next year.

Describing the utilization of fly ash emitted from the plant as a challenge, the project head said that while aiming for 100% utilization of fly ash for power plants, 71.39% of the ash emitted will be disposed of at various places like cement industry, national construction works etc.

The project head also gave detailed information about the CSR activities and said that Rihand is dedicated to the welfare of villagers and displaced people. Rihand is determined to provide basic facilities like health, education, drinking water, roads, community buildings to the villagers and displaced people, so that the villagers and displaced people can get its benefits. He also said that NTPC Rihand is also providing archery training to the tribal students studying in Sevakunj Ashram, Chapki, some of whom are flying the flag at the national level.

Before this, Senior Manager (P&S) Shri K Karthik gave information about the performance and achievements of NTPC Rihand through a power presentation.

The program was mainly attended by media representatives from Sonbhadra’s headquarters, Robertsganj, Renukoot, Bijpur, Anpara, Singrauli and Vaidhan etc., General Manager (O&M) Mr. Pankaj Mediratta, General Manager (Project) Mr. P.B. Paranjape, General Manager (Maintenance) Mr. R. .N Sinha, General Manager (Operations) Shri SK Srivastava, General Manager (ADM) Shri SS Pradhan, Additional General Manager (HR) Shri Zakir Khan, Senior Manager (EMG) Shri Raghavendra Narayan etc. were present and some of them participated as per requirement. Also answered the questions of journalists in collaboration with the project head.
