On lines of Ayodhya – Kashi, Naimisharanya to be developed as a prime pilgrimage site
Lucknow / Sitapur: Decks have been cleared for the revival of Naimish Dham of Sitapur on the lines of Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan and Vindhyavasini Dham. Naimisharanya, the holy place of penance of 88 thousand sages, is now going to join the path of development in a bid to revive its pristine grandeur as per its mythological importance.
The ‘Uttar Pradesh Shri Naimisharanya Dham Teerth Vikas Parishad 2022’ Act was passed from the Legislature. Naimisharanya Dham Teerth Vikas Yojana will be expanded in the Naimisharanya area located within the limits of Sitapur and Hardoi districts of the state.
The area under Naimisharanya includes thirty-six villages of Sitapur. Whose total area is 8511.284 hectares. It consists of eleven destinations, out of which seven come under Sitapur. These are Corona, Jarigwan, Naimisharanya, Devganwa, Madruwa, Koluhta Barethi and Mishrit while four places come under district Hardoi, which are Haraiya, Nagwa Kothawan, Girdharpur Umrari and Sakshi Gopalpur. Its entire circuit is of 209 miles or 84 kos. The objective of Shri Naimisharanya Dham Teerth Vikas Yojana is for the development of Naimisharanya region and to develop facilities for tourism and culture especially religious activities and spiritual tourism.
These 36 villages will be included
Arvapur, Sahasamau, Thakurnagar, Lakairamau, Bithauli, Narsidhauli, Madhwapur, Narayanpur, Parsauli, Sanjarabad, Gharwaspara Kalan, Dharwaspara, Khurd, Misrikh, Saraybibi, Jasraypur, Karmaispur, Laksharpur, Rooppur, Uttardhauna, Khargpur, Kalli, Loknapur, Karkhila, Maraili, Taraswan, Lohganpur, Bijgrant, Binaura, Bhanpur, Atwa, Manikapur, Lekhanpur, Laxmannagar, Naimisharanya, Bhairampur and Azizpur.
This will be the form of ‘Naimisharanya Teerth Vikas Parishad’
Shri Naimisharanya Dham Teerth Vikas Parishad will be a body, headed by the chief minister while the tourism minister will be the vice-chairman. The Executive Vice President will also be appointed by the Chief Minister. Principal Secretary Tourism, Housing and Town Planning, Finance, Culture, Charitable Work, Urban Development, Transport, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Public Works, Divisional Commissioner, District Magistrate, Sitapur, Chief Town and Country Planner, Uttar Pradesh and Executive Officer, Naimisharanya Municipality will be in the role of member and co-convenor.
The Council shall be headed by a Chief Executive Officer, who shall be appointed by the State Government from amongst officers of the rank or senior of the Special Secretary to the State Government.
There will also be a planning and development committee
In addition, five eminent persons having knowledge, experience in conservation of heritage of Naimisharanya area will be nominated by the Chairman in consultation with the State Government. After the notification regarding the formation of the council, a planning and development committee will also be formed. The Planning and Development Committee will be headed by the District Magistrate, Sitapur while the Chief Executive Officer will be the Member Secretary and will include Senior Superintendent of Police, Sitapur, Chief Development Officer, Hardoi, Additional Superintendent of Police, Hardoi, and Executive Officer, Naimisharanya Municipality.
