Lucknow: Vaccines have reached in two separate batches in Lucknow. As Lucknow starts its official vaccination drive, the Uttar Pradesh health minister Jai Pratap Singh has confirmed that the state government has sought 1.1 million vaccine vials for the health workers of the state in phase 1. Starting today 9L health workers are being vaccinated across the state. Lucknow alone has 11 vaccination centres. In a measure that will help in keeping the vaccine safe and secure, the government has setup cold storage facilities at 18 divisional headquarters and community health centres along with primary health centres in tehsils and blocks. Seeing the dire need for vaccination, the state’s health department has had to ramp up the storage facility of the cold chain from 80,000 litres to 230,000 litres.
As per Singh – The supply is slow, but the target will be achievable soon. A district task force, tehsil task force and block task force has been put in place which will oversee the actual vaccination. Departments of the state government department and members of the WHO, UNICEF and UNDP are also part of the taskforce.
There are very clear instructions that medical disposal will happen as per guidelines laid down by the state government. Meanwhile control rooms have been setup at block and district level. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also virtually connected with the doctors on duty. The district magistrates and chief medical officers have been highlighting utility and quality of vaccine to motivate people.
The entire vaccination process will happen amidst tight watch. The same will be the case for transportation of the vaccine. Security personnel will be deployed round the clock at cold chains. The Integrated COVID Command and Control Centre will monitor vaccination centres via CCTVs.
The vaccination plan has been designed in a way that the entire process goes smoothly. The vaccination centre has been divided into three rooms. The person approaching the centre for the vaccine will enter through the first room and furnish ID and other personal details. After its authentication, the individual will go to the second room, where the vaccine will be administered. The last room will be the waiting area, where those vaccinated will be spending 30 minutes after immunisation. With vaccination finally happening there is a sense of optimism that one will escape the grip of Coronavirus.
