Lucknow: The construction of Pediatric Advance Center at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) will be started soon. Various diseases of children will be treated under one roof here. Super specialty courses will be taught in this center to be built at a cost of about Rs 500 crore. There will be two seats each in all the 24 departments. Every year 48 pediatricians will be prepared here.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a Pediatric Advance Center will be constructed in SGPGI to provide better treatment facilities to the children. In the first phase, this center is being set up for the treatment of children. At the same time, in its second phase, a center will be set up for the treatment of diseases related to adolescent girls. SGPGI Director Prof RK Dhiman said preparations are being made for its foundation stone laying next month. World class facilities will be made available in this center for the treatment of children. Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgical (MCh) courses will be taught. Pediatric Advance Center will prepare 48 specialist doctors every year and this will also remove the shortage of specialist doctors.
The responsibility of preparing its action plan has been given to SGPGI. The SGPGI team has prepared an action plan after studying the facilities of such centers running in different countries. A Pediatric Advance Center will be opened at SGPGI to provide world class medical facilities for the treatment of children in the state. It will be constructed at a cost of around Rs 500 crore.

With this, clinics related to these disciplines will be started in medical colleges in future. In the second phase of the project, a center will be set up for the treatment of diseases related to adolescent girls in the age group of 12 to 18 years.
It will be completely linked to mental health. The problem of various hormonal changes occurring in adolescents with age will be solved. Facilities like stress management for adolescents, psycho-sexual disorders, Psychiatry and Behavior Addiction Action Psychiatry and gynae-psychiatry clinics for adolescent girls will be provided.
