Plans afoot to make Chhath Puja festivities seamless
Special attention will be given to ensure the cleanliness of the Ghats, Arpan Kalash will be installed inside the river
Lucknow: Director Local Bodies Neha Sharma has issued special guidelines to ensure cleanliness in view of Chhath Puja. She has issued a letter to all the municipal commissioners and executive officers to pay special attention to ensure the cleanliness of the ghats for the public and visitors on the days of Chhath Puja.
All the urban bodies have been asked to ensure proper cleaning of the ghats at least twice a day. This time the Arpan Kalash should be installed inside the river. With the celebration of festivals, this step has been taken keeping in mind the environment.
Director Local Body informed that after the conclusion of the festival, ward wise competition will be organized in relation to cleanliness, lifting and management of garbage and arrangement of street lighting etc. In the competition, all the bodies will provide information/reports including photographs of the champion ward by November 03.
The Director Local Body has made it clear that the devotees and the general public should be encouraged by the bodies to celebrate Chhath Puja festival with full enthusiasm with cleanliness. Special attention should be paid to ensure cleanliness of Ghats for public and visitors during Chhath Puja days on 30th and 31st October.
Proper cleaning of the Ghats should be ensured at least twice a day. Proper cleanliness arrangements should be made around the puja ghats. It will also be ensured that solid waste does not flow into the waters of the rivers during Chhath Puja.
There should not be any open dumping site around Chhath Puja Ghats. Instructions regarding awareness regarding cleanliness around the ghat sites should be put on the board, she said. Mobile toilets / portable toilets will be installed near the ghat and message boards related to this will also be installed at the site. In coordination with the District Magistrate for cleaning the places of worship, waste collection, employees and vehicles will be deployed by the bodies in different shifts as per his instructions.
Identifying the waste sensitive places around the Ghat by the bodies, beautification will be done through plantation etc. for their beauty. Proper drinking water arrangement will be ensured at Ghats and places of worship. Green and blue colored dustbins with proper usage message should be placed around the Ghats. In the event of red spots (places where people spit) around the ghats, they will be marked by the bodies and warning messages should be installed there.
