New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the first shot of the COVID vaccine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi. The PM has been administered Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
“Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19,” Modi wrote on Twitter. “I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!”
A report suggests – the prime minister chose an early morning time for vaccination. After receiving the vaccine, Modi reportedly told the staff on duty: “Already done [administering the vaccine]? I didn’t even feel it.”
India’s second phase covers people above the age of 60 and those above 45 with comorbidities.
