PM Modi heads to Kashi for several important events in constituency
PM to lay foundation stone of Passenger Ropeway from Varanasi Cantt Station to Godaulia – project to facilitate movement of tourists, pilgrims and residents
Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on 24 March. The Prime Minister will address the ‘One World TB Summit’ at Rudraksh Convention Center at around 10:30 am. At around 12 noon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects worth more than Rs 1780 crore at Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya ground.
On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the Prime Minister will address the ‘One World TB Summit’. The summit is being organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Stop TB Partnership. Founded in 2001, the Stop TB Partnership is a United Nations-led organization that provides a voice for people, communities and countries affected by TB.
During the event, Prime Minister’s TB-free Panchayat Initiative; to officially launch a Brief TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) on a pan-India basis; Will launch various initiatives including Family Centered Care Model for TB and release of India’s Annual TB Report 2023. The Prime Minister will also award select States/UTs and districts for significant progress towards elimination of TB.
In March 2018, during the ‘End TB Summit’ held in New Delhi, the Prime Minister called upon India to achieve the SDG targets related to TB by 2025, five years ahead of schedule. The One World TB Summit will provide an opportunity to further discuss these goals as the country moves towards meeting its TB elimination objectives. The conference will also be an opportunity to showcase the learnings from the national TB elimination programmes. International delegates from more than 30 countries will be present in this summit.
Development Initiatives in Varanasi
During the last nine years, the Prime Minister has paid special attention to changing the landscape of Varanasi and making life easier for the people living in the city and its surrounding areas. Taking another step in this direction, during this visit the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs 1780 crore at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya ground.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Passenger Ropeway from Varanasi Cantt Station to Godaulia. The cost of this project is estimated to be around Rs 645 crore. This ropeway system with five stations will be 3.75 km long. This will facilitate the movement of tourists, pilgrims and residents of Varanasi.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a 55 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant at Bhagwanpur under the Namami Gange scheme. The plant will be constructed at a cost of over Rs 300 crore. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the second and third phase of the redevelopment work of Sigra Stadium under the Khelo India scheme.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of LPG bottling plant to be constructed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited in this Raver village of Sewapuri. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of various other projects including a primary health centre, a floating jetty equipped with changing rooms in Bharthara village.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 19 drinking water schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission. More than three lakh people of 63 gram panchayats will be benefitted by these drinking water schemes. With an aim to further strengthen the rural drinking water system, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of 59 drinking water schemes under this mission.
For the farmers, exporters and traders of Varanasi and surrounding areas, grading, sorting and processing of fruits and vegetables will be possible in an integrated pack house to be built at Kar Khianv. During this program, the Prime Minister will dedicate this project to the nation. This project will prove to be helpful in promoting agricultural exports of Varanasi and surrounding areas.
Redevelopment work of Rajghat and Mahmoorganj government schools under Prime Minister Varanasi Smart City Mission, beautification of internal roads of the city; Will dedicate various projects to the nation including redevelopment of six parks and ponds of the city.
ATC Tower at Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport; Solar power plant of 2 MW capacity at Water Works complex at Bhelupur; 800 kW capacity solar power plant at Konya Pumping Station; New Community Health Center at Sarnath; improving the infrastructure of the industrial estate at Chandpur; He will also dedicate to the nation various other infrastructure projects including renovation of temples of Kedareshwar, Vishweshwar and Omkareshwar Khand Parikrama.
