PM Modi to lay foundation stone for International Cricket stadium at Varanasi on September 23
Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the international cricket stadium to be built at a cost of Rs 450 crore in Ganjri area of Varanasi on 23 September.
The stadium will have state-of-the-art facilities and seating capacity. 30,000 spectators. The foundation stone laying ceremony, which is likely to be attended by many star cricketers, will be a grand show with the active participation of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and UPCA.

Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said, preparations are being started in Ganjri for the proposed visit of the Prime Minister (PM Modi) to lay the foundation stone of the cricket stadium on September 23. It will be a grand show as apart from BCCI officials, other stars will also be involved.

The best artists of the ongoing Kashi Sansad Cultural Mahotsav will perform at the proposed function and awards will be distributed to the winners of the Mahotsav. Players from Varanasi and surrounding districts will be invited to this event.
L&T has almost finalized the design and drawings of the proposed stadium and further action on it including approval from UPCA, after which no objection certificate will be sought from Forest and Ground Water and other departments, will be initiated soon. On the demand of UPCA, consultants have also been arranged to complete the formalities of obtaining NOC from VDA and UPPCB. “Preparation of a 3D model and details of the project will be completed soon, after which L&T will begin the process of leveling the acquired land and construction of boundary wall.”

The state government has spent Rs 120 crore on land acquisition for the project while Rs 330 crore will be spent on the construction of the stadium. With the completion of the Rs 450 crore project, the international cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 30,000 will be ready to host international cricket matches.
