PM Narendra Modi makes his presence felt amid global leaders at G7 summit

New Delhi: India’s Prime Minister  Narendra Modi arrived in Germany’s Munich  to attend the G7 summit. He will be speaking in two sessions at the G7 summit that comprise issues like the environment, food security, health, gender equality and democracy.

He was earlier in the day snapped with a phalanx of global leaders. The prime minister’s office shared the news of PM Modi’s arrival in Munich on Twitter where he was greeted by a Bavarian band.

Meanwhile the PM has been given a warm welcome by the  Indian diaspora in Germany and celebrated his arrival in Munich.

Modi was invited to the summit by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“I will be exchanging views with the G7 countries, G7 partner countries and guest international organisations on topical issues such as the environment, energy, climate, food security, health, counter-terrorism, gender equality and democracy. I look forward to meeting leaders of some of the participating G7 and guest countries on the sidelines of the Summit,” the Prime Minister said in an official statement.

If an official MEA release is anything to go by, PM Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders of some of the G7 countries on the sidelines of the summit.

The invitation is based on the tradition of close partnership between India and Germany.

After the summit, PM modi heads to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on June 28.

The G7 summit is an annual meeting of the seven countries which form the Group of Seven (G7)

This year, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, and U.S. President Joe Biden are taking part in this year’s summit. India is participating in the summit as an observer.
