Prof Rajendra Prasad gets Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished service in field of Tuberculosis cure

Lucknow: Professor Rajendra Prasad, Director Medical Education and Head of Department Pulmonary Medicine Eras Lucknow Medical College, Former Director Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute Delhi and Former Professor and Head of Pulmonary Medicine King George’s Medical University Lucknow got awarded by the Tuberculosis Association of India’s for important contribution in the field of Tuberculosis and Chest Disease with the Dr. R. C. Jain  Life Time Achievement Award.

Professor Rajendra Prasad was conferred with this honor at the inaugural function of National Conference of Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases, Ambala – Haryana. Apart from this, he has already been honored with Lifetime Achievement Award of National College of Chest Physicians, Indian Association for Bronchology, Thoracic Endoscopy Society of India and Indian Chest Society.

Presently Prof. Rajendra Prasad is the National Vice President of National Task Force of National Tuberculosis Eradication Program and Senior Vice President of UP TB Association. He has been the Chairman of the Technical Standing Committee of the Tuberculosis Association of India. Dr. Rajendra Prasad is a well-known personality in the field of Tuberculosis and has played an important role in the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program.

Along with this, the role of Dr. Prasad is incomparable in getting all the government and non-government medical colleges of the country included in the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program. He was nominated by the Government of India and the World Health Organization for the Joint Monitoring Mission of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program in the years 2006, 2015 and 2019. He is also known as the father of pulmonary medicine in Uttar Pradesh. In the past Dr. Rajendra Prasad has worked as a member of National Technical Expert Group on Diagnosis and Treatment of Tuberculosis, Regulation of Nuver Anti TB Drugs, DST Guided Treatment of Drugs Resistant TB and Bedaculine Conditional Expanded Access Program of India.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad has played an active role in developing the Indian Guidelines for MDR, XDR TB Standard of TB Care, HIV and TB Extra Pulmonary TB. He has been a member of task forces of prestigious research organizations of India like National Operational Research Committee of National Tuberculosis, Elimination Program, Indian TB Research Consortium, Indian Council of Medical Research.

Pro. Prasad has completed 200 research works so far by his outstanding ability and along with this he has published more than 400 papers in national and international research journals. He has also edited 11 Pulmonary Medicine related books, out of which four books are only on Tuberculosis.  Rajendra Prasad  has been honored with more than 60 awards including the National Award.
