Lucknow: A team of 20 young people are traveling to Surat to represent Uttar Pradesh in the country’s first ever Ultimate Frisbee State Championship. 19 out of the 20 players belong to underprivileged backgrounds – most of who work as delivery personnel, domestic help and work in the fields along with their family.
Ultimate Frisbee is an unique sport recognised by the International Olympics Committee – that is self officiated and mixed gender – even at its highest level.
These players practice the sport with Project KHEL facilitated by their head Coach Akshai Abraham.
Project KHEL is a Lucknow based non profit that harness the power of play to impact Gender, Pluralism and Sense of Self in children from resource poor backgrounds.
