Lucknow: Burning a hole in the pocket is the price of arhar dal which has seen prices skyrocket exhorbitantly. The price of arhar dal has been increasing for the last about three months. The prices of Pukhraj arhar dal in the retail market has crossed Rs 100.
In the wholesale rate it is costing Rs 9,850 per quintal. Other varieties have also reached close to a hundred. Most varieties namely Sunflower, Diamond, Madhuri have risen in cost significantly.
If experts are to be believed then the effect of halting imports and zero stock balance is clearly visible in the pulses market.
The pulse market is already reporting shortage of crops in Uttar Pradesh. News coming in suggests that this time around thirty per cent of pulses shortage has surfaced when it comes to Maharashtra, Karnataka and MP. Reportedly the situation is likely to continue for next few days.
By the end of this month, prices will get some relief. The price of arhar dal in the wholesale market is hovering around Rs 9,700 to Rs 9,850 per quintal. Stock storage is zero. In the past three months, arhar dal has been running between Rs 102 and Rs 105 per kg in the retail market.
