Carrying forward the Congress legacy, Rahul Gandhi marches on UP’s streets

Lucknow: After a nine day break, former Congress president and MP from Wayanad, Kerala, Rahul Gandhi has resumed his Bharat Jodo tour. More than half of his journey has been completed. The former Congress President rallied in Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Kashmiri Gate, Delhi  and entered Uttar Pradesh through Loni Border in Ghaziabad. A large number of people welcomed the massive yatra that has been making all the right noises with some big names giving the grand old party a thumbs up.  Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi accompanied Rahul on the yatra.

While welcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra to Loni in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi described her brother Rahul Gandhi as a fighter and said that she is very proud of him for covering a distance of more than 3000 km. Priyanka Gandhi said that Ambani and Adani bought politicians, public institutions and media, but could not buy my brother. Priyanka Gandhi said that they cannot even buy them. If the politics of hatred and division continues, then your problems will not be solved. You will not get jobs, the economy will not improve.

Priyanka Gandhi mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s T-shirt in her speech while welcoming the yatra at Loni border. Priyanka Gandhi said that people ask me that your brother does not feel cold ? I tell him that he is wearing the armor of truth. God will keep all safe.

In UP, the yatra covered a total of 11 assembly constituencies in 3 days in Ghaziabad, Baghpat and Shamli districts covering a distance of 120 kms. Dozens of Congress leaders and workers arrived to be part of it.

Both went to Mavi Kalan, Sisana and Sarurpur via Baghpat. The yatra also touched several areas of Kairana and Shamli before entering Haryana on January 5. Rahul and Priyanka touched several other places in Kairana and Shamli via Baghpat.

Opposition leaders including Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati have extended support to the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ but decided to stay away from it. Akhilesh thanked Rahul for inviting him on the yatra and wished it success.

BSP supremo Mayawati tweeted that, “I wish ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and thank Rahul Gandhi for inviting me.” During a press conference, Rahul Gandhi said that the yatra is dedicated to both the leaders of UP.  On January 5, the yatra reached Alam in Shamli district and passed through Kandhla, Uncha village and Kairana.

Bharat Jodo Yatra continued in Uttar Pradesh for three days. After this, it has entered Haryana on January 6. From January 11 to 20, it will remain in Punjab and one day on January 19 in Himachal Pradesh. The yatra is likely to enter Jammu and Kashmir on January 20. Party sources said that after the victory of the Congress in the recently held assembly elections, it was decided that the yatra route would pass through those parts of Himachal Pradesh which share border with Punjab.

Leaders of political parties and experts in the political affairs of the state are speculating about the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Uttar Pradesh. Most of the experts say that the areas through which Rahul Gandhi will pass in UP have been prepared under a special strategy. Sensing the political seriousness of this, Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati and Jayant Chowdhary have refused to participate in the Yatra despite receiving invitations. The three districts through which Rahul passed in UP were Muslim and Jat dominated areas. People of both the fraternities played an important role in winning the 120 seats in West UP. It is believed that even though Rahul’s visit in UP is short, but his political impact will be till East UP.

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is passing through 13 states. Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra was earlier supposed to enter U.P. from Rajasthan, but later the route was changed and now after coming to Delhi it entered Uttar Pradesh in the first week of January.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is running from Kanyakumari in South India, will go up to Kashmir. At present, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has reached Rajasthan via Madhya Pradesh. Through this yatra, Rahul Gandhi is not only trying to strengthen the party by traveling more than 3,500 kilometers, but is also trying to connect new people.
