Ram Baraat to be taken out amid tight security

Bareilly: At this time the whole country is immersed in the colors of Holi. Preparations for Holika Dahan are going on at various places. On the occasion of Holi, everyone eagerly waits for the historic Ram Baraat coming out of the Badi Bamanpuri Narasimha Temple throughout the year. This tradition has been going on continuously for 162 years in the city.  Ram Baraat will be organized amid tight security arrangements.

Thousands of people participate in the Ram Baraat starting from Malukpur and the Huriyares walk showering colors on the people involved. Bareilly is the only city from where Ramlila is organized on the occasion of Holi and Ram Baraat is organized a day before Holi in Ramlila.

This historic Ram Baraat, which takes place on Phalgun Purnima, is being taken out since the British period. This tradition is being followed for 162 years. There are thousands of Huriyares in Ram Baraat, who ride on big trolls and take out Ram Yatra in the whole city and rain colors on the people. Hurriyare is a unique tableau of God in front and behind it. Devotees welcome Ram Baraat from place to place.

Very special Holi is celebrated in Bareilly

This occasion of Holi is very special in Bareilly. Holi here is also said to be unique because Ramlila is performed here before Holi. After which Ram Yatra is taken out across the city. A large number of people from India and abroad reach here to see this Ram Baraat. This time (163rd anniversary) will be celebrated with pomp like every year. People come from far and wide to see the Ram Baraat.

The beginning of Ram Baraat started from Badi Bamanpuri, after which it was started from different areas of the city from Biharipur Dhal to Government Inter College, Novelty Square, Roadways, Bareilly College, Kalibari, Shyamganj, Siklapur, Math Ki Chowki, Qutubkhana, Bada Bazar, From Sahukara, Fort, City Station via Dalav Wali Mathia, ended at Narasimha Temple of Bamanpuri. The second front of Ram Baraat started from Chahbai and joined the main procession from Qutub Khana.

Ramlila Holi is world famous here

Bareilly’s Ramlila is world famous as ‘Holi Wali Ramlila’, that is why it has also been included in the World Heritage. In 2008, UNESCO included this Ramlila in the list of World Heritage. In 2015, Bareilly’s ‘Holi Wali Ramlila’ was declared a World Heritage Site. An aid of one lakh rupees is also given every year for ‘Holi Wali Ramlila’ by the Department of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
