Lucknow: Dr. Himanshu Krishna of Divyavani Neuro & Maternity Clinic has been serving several patients as  neurosurgeon. Everyday he touches several lives for the better. As a doctor, he believes that keeping mind and body replenished with right amount of exercise, balanced diet and proper sleep is crucial to good living.

Dr. Krishna says age, definitely is a criteria with regards to neurological issues. He says that now memory related issues have started  surfacing as early as 30s. While life expectancy has improved according to him, with stress levels high there is a drastic shift in disease pattern.

In high paced lifestyle the lack of sleep, high pressure, poor food intake and being too preoccupied is leading to dementia. In medical parlance he explains neuronal degeneration takes place. The other common problems are stroke, walking difficulty and other related issues.

So should one wait for 50 or start maintaining a health regimen early? The doctor said, “ It is better if one gets alert before he or she hits 50. Lifestyle modifications are helpful, to enjoy long innings getting regular checkups done and giving the nervous system adequate breathing space is of paramount importance. Maintaining mental and physical efficiency helps in the long run. Most advisable is adequate sleep, balanced diet which in turn helps in cognitive functions.”

As the weather takes a chilly turn, the doctor cautions – weather changes add on the pre-existing problems. Metabolism takes a beating. Lipid content and glycerides have an adverse impact.

Posture matters he says – If not checked early, spondylitis and inflammation are common irritants primarily due to impaired, deranged posture and bad working pattern. Most importantly maintaining a proper coordination of nerves and muscles is essential.

But things are possible, he says – Not only can adverse impact of age be nullified, the incedences of major disasters can be reduced. With great care nerve compression can be reduced which reduces the severity of symptoms.
