Lucknow: Allahabad High Court has given great relief to MP Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi. The High Court has quashed the FIR lodged against Rita Bahuguna Joshi on charges of irregularities as mayor 14 years ago. This order was given by a division bench of Justice Sunit Kumar and Justice Syed Vaiz Mian after hearing Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s advocates Sunil Dutt Kautilya and Satyavrat Sahai and public prosecutor.
In the year 2008, the then Tehsildar Vijay Shankar Mishra had lodged an FIR at the Civil Lines police station alleging that Dr. Joshi misused her powers as mayor. She destroyed the land of Municipal Corporation along with other accused in plot number 408 located at Fatehpur Bichhua. Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s advocate Kautilya said in his argument that the FIR was motivated by malice and said that earlier the CBI had investigated this case on the orders of the High Court.
An FIR was lodged in connection with the CBI investigation and after the investigation, a charge sheet was also filed. The name of the petitioner was not mentioned anywhere in that charge sheet and no involvement of her was mentioned. Kautilya said that the petitioner had performed his duties faithfully as mayor and got the decision of the House implemented. No criminal case is made out against the decision of the House. As far as the land dispute is concerned, the Municipal Corporation has only benefited from the decision of the House.
