Lucknow: Hours before the U.P. Assembly throws its doors open for the budget session, police have detained three leaders, including SP MLC Rajesh Yadav. Taking a sharp jibe at the arrests, the Samajwadi party has called it a murder of democracy.
The detentions happened after Samajwadi Party leaders reached the Vidhan Bhavan riding a tractor raising slogans to corner the ruling dispensation on the issue of farmer problems and inflation.
SP leaders were seen seated outside the assembly near the Chaudhary charan Singh statue.
Some were even seen trying to climb atop the assembly gate. Many leaders including Samajwadi Party’s MLC Sunil Singh Sajan, Rajesh Yadav, Udayveer Singh, Rajpal Kashyap arrived at the assembly gate loaded with paddy and sugarcane on the tractor. The protestors even resorted to clashing with the police. Tight security arrangements have been made outside the Vidhan Bhavan for the budget session.
In the budget session which will go on till March 10, a paperless budget will be tabled on the floor of the Assembly. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the upcoming sessions of the state assembly and legislative council will be digitized. He said that this time e-budget will be presented.
The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature will begin with the address of Governor Anandiben Patel.
