Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot eye crossing swords with each other

Jaipur: Before the Rajasthan assembly elections, once again senior leader Sachin Pilot is getting down to the ground to strengthen the Congress. Pilot clan is preparing to hold meetings across the state. It will start with Kisan Sammelan in Marwar and Shekhawati next week. The politics of the state can also heat up with these conferences. The dispute between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is not hidden from anyone. In such a situation, farmers’ conferences are also being seen as a way of showing the strength of the pilot camp. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot may not be able to participate in these Kisan Sammelans because he is busy with budget preparations.

Pilot is holding meetings in Nagaur, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu and Pali from January 16 to 19. The Pilot group says that these meetings are to strengthen the organization and to infuse enthusiasm among the workers. But the Gehlot camp is seeing it as a test of the pilot’s strength. The party leadership has also become alert due to this. Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are trying to find a solution. Holding the party as that of paramount importance, a way out will be found soon. Senior party leader Rahul Gandhi has said that both Ashok Gehlot and Pilot are assets for the Congress.

The Pilot camp believes that the Congress has a direct fight with the BJP in Rajasthan. BJP has started election preparations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also going to visit the state soon. In such a situation, the party cannot sit idly. Along with this, the areas where Kisan Sammelans are being held are considered BJP strongholds. If the party has to perform better in the assembly elections, then it will have to go among the farmers, youth and voters.

According to a state Congress leader, the party will benefit from these conferences of Pilot. If the party has to avoid defeat like in 2003 and 2013, then it will have to work hard on the ground from now itself.

Actually, the situation in the state has remained the same after the rebellion of the MLA regarding the Legislature Party meeting in September. No action has been taken so far even on the show cause notice given to Gehlot supporters who called the meeting of MLAs apart from the official meeting. The pilot camp is very angry with this.
