Lucknow: A new initiative has been taken by the government to speed up the testing of TB patients. Under this, a sample transporter will be deployed on an honorarium basis to transport the samples from the Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Center to the nearest testing center. This will make it easier for the test report to come soon after sputum collection. State Tuberculosis Control Program Officer Dr. Shailendra Bhatnagar says that this initiative will play an important role in making the state TB-free in record time. Arrangements have been made for sputum collection of potential TB patients near home at Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Center. Therefore, if there is a problem like cough for more than two weeks, fever, weight loss, bleeding while coughing, contact the nearest center immediately, because these can be symptoms of TB.
Dr. Bhatnagar said that there is a plan to hire 2886 sample transporters on honorarium basis for about 19 thousand health and wellness centers in the state. For this, the Community Health Officer (CHO), ASHA and ANM posted at the center will also be trained. It will be the responsibility of the CHO to pack the sample, send it to the testing center and timely update the report on the Nikshay portal.
