Satadru Sovan & the subtle brilliance of Performance Art

Lucknow: Contemporary artist Satadru Sovan is the founder and director of HexiDuxibox online and offline performance platform and Ambassador of India to the Worldwide Peace Marker Project. He is also a member of the Lock Unlocked Performing Arts Project.

He is a multi-disciplinary contemporary artist – painting large canvases, creating his own performance art, lighting installations is one of the unique features included in his work.

In terms of technique, after receiving his degree and masters in painting from the renowned Visva Bharati University Santiniketan in 2000, he received the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship at the University of California. It was here that he developed his passion and understanding of light in creative forms – from painting to animation to films and the performing arts – while majoring in digital and new media.

He worked in the animation industry as well as a lecturer at an art college. He did many freelance jobs. He did many social work projects. Notably organized art projects on HIV in South-Africa as well as Agra public art projects with disadvantaged children.

He did 100 meters of wall painting in South Korea. He is the recipient of 16 awards including 3 international scholarships, guest of honor and the very prestigious Fulbright Scholarship.

Satadru is the recipient of several awards and residency and his work has been purchased by renowned contemporary collectors as well as the Schema Art Museum, Korea. They have a strong international exhibition history, exhibiting several times in the United States (Lincoln Center in New York, and the Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz as well as Schema Art Museum, Korea, Cheongju Museum of Contemporary Art), Malaysia, Korea, Hong Kong , South Africa, Vietnam, Iran and Germany.

He has also participated in Biennale in Iran, Cheongju International Craft Biennale, Pune, Bodh Gaya Biennale and Athens. His work has also been exhibited at international art fairs The Art Fair, Cape Town, Cheongju International Art Fair South Korea, Joburg Art Fair in South Africa, United Art Fair Delhi, Art Fair Cologne, Paper Art Cologne Germany, Art Expo Malaysia and Indian Art Summit. it was done. , India.

He made several appearances in group shows in the United States, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bulgaria, Tallinn, Germany, China, Vietnam, Korea, South Africa, Australia, Nepal, India and Bangladesh. The Cultural Program on Korea published a CD of their performance.

The final project was the Cheongju Contemporary Art Museum, China part of the Parabiosis International Art Show. Iran Contemporary, Art Biennale, Cheongju International Crafts Biennale, Pune-Biennale, Mohr-Biennale, Pune, Agora 4th Athens Biennale, large-scale international network of contemporary arts events, etc.
