Savitribai Phule University team comes out with flying colours

Varanasi: Savitribai Phule University, Pune won the gold medal in the Yogasana event at the Khelo India University Games by defeating Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University by a margin of just 0.23 points in a very close and thrilling contest. The Pune team from Savitribai Phule University scored 399.50 marks in a spectacular performance. While  nearest rival Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University got 399.27 marks. They had to be satisfied with the silver medal. The team of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology came third with 398.91 marks winning a bronze medal.

On the initiative of Khelo India, the Men’s Yogasana Competition concluded on Saturday afternoon at the Ramesh Srinivasan Student Activity Center of IIT BHU. In which gold medalist Savitri Bai Phule University Pune team included Kunal Vithal, Vishnu Chakraborty M, Dipanshu Solanki, Siddharth Madhukar Davde, Vaishnav Sanjay Karde and Nitin Tanaji Pavle. Due to the excellent performance of these players, the Pune team got golden success. Ramanand Devaji Rout, Om Dinesh Rakhade, Pranay Kangle, Harshal Vilas, Vaibhav Balachandra Deshmukh and Vaibhav Vaman Rame were included in the silver medal winning Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University team. And the team of Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology Hisar, who won the bronze medal, included Ram Goswami, Amit, Mohit, Mukesh, Chetan Sharma and Praveen Kumar Pathak.

The Chaudhary Bansilal University team secured the fourth position in the men’s yoga competition of the Khelo India University Games held on Saturday under the supervision of the National Yogasan Sports Federation in collaboration with Sports Authority of India and Uttar Pradesh Sports Department. This team secured 398.57 marks. And the Panjab University team finished fifth with 394.81 marks. Shivaji University got the sixth position. He got 394.14 marks in his account. While Gurugram University’s team scored 387.29, Punjabi University Patiala’s team 383.49 and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology’s team secured seventh, eighth and ninth position respectively with 358.49 marks.
