Second phase of Civic Polls are dotted with challenges
Lucknow: The municipal elections being held in UP are being considered as the semi-finals before the Lok Sabha. After one phase is over, votes will be held in the second phase on May 11. The real test of BJP is to be held in this phase. Because the party has done many new experiments. According to political experts, in the second phase, the challenge is to snatch Aligarh, Meerut from the BSP and bring Shahjahanpur, which has become a new municipal corporation, into its fold. So there some different kind of confusion is being seen in Ayodhya and Bareilly.
A senior BJP leader told that the low turnout in the first phase is also a problem in itself. On top of that, rebels are spoiling the game of BJP candidates by contesting elections at many places. There are seven seats in this phase for which elections are to be held.
The challenge before the BJP is to wrest Meerut and Aligarh from the BSP, which were last held by the BSP. On the other hand, on the new Municipal Corporation of Shahjahanpur, the BJP has taken the mayor candidate of SP in its fold and is contesting the election. Even more than this, many workers who had the intention of contesting elections, may have some problems inside. Although the state leadership is continuously lashing out at the rebels, but they are creating trouble in eating inside. On the other hand, in Kanpur too, some people are angry because the MP’s relative did not get a ticket. You are not working as hard as you should.
If political pundits are to be believed, in Ayodhya too, the ticket of present Mayor Rishi Upadhyay has been cut and given to Girishpati due to land dispute. Due to the new face, the party has to work twice as hard here. In Bareilly, the outgoing Mayor Umesh Gautam is facing a tough challenge from his old rival IS Tomar.
Political analyst Prasun Pandey says that the opposition is fighting as seriously in the civic elections as the BJP has insisted on winning. From the head of the government organization to the workers, they are engaged in the elections. Even before the voting for the first phase was over, preparations for the second phase were started. The party will exert full force on the seats in the second phase.
In fact, the seven municipal corporations in which elections are to be held in the second phase. The conditions are slightly different in that. The party had exerted more power on Saharanpur and Moradabad in the first phase. Now in the second phase elections are to be held in Ghaziabad, Meerut, Aligarh, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Kanpur Nagar and Ayodhya Municipal Corporation.
Here the party will have to tighten the rebels and those who attack inside. The booth president and the state team will have to work hard. Looking at the caste equation, some old people will have to be persuaded. So that he can engage in the election with full enthusiasm. Because only the results of this election will prove the strength of the party in the Lok Sabha elections.
