Seminar discusses the importance of self defence of women

Lucknow: Keeping in view the safety of women, giving them martial arts training for self-defense has become the need of the hour. With this objective, a seminar on self-protection of women was organized at Geological Survey of India (GSI), Northern Region, Lucknow.

Speaking at the seminar, Chief Guest Anand Kishore Pandey (Director Sports Network India, former International Player) said in his address that Self Defense is a mental state in which preparations are made to empower women physically as well as mentally.  During this seminar, women officers of GSI were given self-defense training.

Presiding over the seminar, Professor Prakash Kumar Srivastava (Director Training Institute) said that our women officers have to work in difficult conditions. In view of this, she was trained in the art of Korean martial art Taekwondo for self-defense by experienced female trainer Parveen Akhtar and her team.

On this occasion Shruti Ranjan (Senior Geologist), Amit Awasthi (Senior Geologist), Sandeep Gupta (Assistant Director- P&A), Smt. Suman Garg (Admin Officer), Amit Kumar Singh (Former National Table Tennis Player) working in GSI, Apart from international referees, national players Salman Khan and Yashasvi Dubey were also present.
