Senior photographer Shailendra Kumar to be felicitated with “Jalaj Smriti Samman-2023”
Lucknow: Bihar’s senior photographer Shailendra Kumar will be given this honor in a special program in Lucknow.
A monograph will be released in the function and a photo exhibition of cultural colors of India will be held.
Like every year for the last two years, this year also in the holy memory of Uttar Pradesh’s young visionary photographer Jalaj Yadav, on his 33rd birth anniversary.

Program coordinator and painter Bhupendra Kumar Asthana said that Roopkriti: Open Art Space cultural and creative artist group has decided to start an honor series in the memory of the young photographer. And from this time ‘Jalaj Smriti Samman’ is being started. The concept behind this is that there are many artists who are making notable contributions to the society at large in their respective fields/genres. Those excellent persons should be identified and honored and their art should also be encouraged.
This time Shailendra Kumar (Cultural & Heritage) senior photographer from Patna, Bihar has been selected for Jalaj Smriti Samman-2023. Along with this, a solo exhibition of his artistic photographs presenting the cultural color of India will also be organized. Shailendra has been continuously photographing the cultural colors and heritage of India for the last 42 years. Retrospective shows, solo and many group exhibitions of his photographs have also been organized, as well as he has also participated in many workshops, art camps, slide shows.
His photographs have been displayed in many exhibitions abroad and have also been collected. He has a long experience in photography, for which he has also received many honors and awards.
Chief organizer of the ceremony, painter Dheeraj Yadav said that this is being done in the memory of our younger brother Jalaj Yadav, a visionary photographer of Yuva Soch. He passed away at a very young age. Since then, we have been organizing several events for the promotion and promotion of art and artists, along with art exhibitions, art camps, art dialogues, portfolios, monograph publications, artist residency programs, and from this time Jalaj Smriti Samman in his memory.
