Separate body to oversee development of waterways in U.P.
Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh will now have a dedicated body to oversee the development of new waterways. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced the setting up of a new authority that will explore options for waterways to promote micro small and medium enterprises (MSMES) in the state and also formulate policies to provide affordable transport options.
Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh’s first waterway from Varanasi to Haldia is operational.
The chief minister claimed that the previous government had no concrete program to connect eastern UP with the western part of the state and major cities.
Highlighting the unlimited potential of Uttar Pradesh, he said that the state government has presented it to the country with the formulation of new schemes.
He also asked the MSME department to set up two institutes at Saharanpur and Aligarh to help entrepreneurs.
An institute should be set up in Saharanpur to provide world class designs of wood products to local entrepreneurs.
He said that the second institute should help those setting up units in the Aligarh node of the defense corridor.
