Shalimar Jewels Knight Riders notch up first win at Night Golf Carnival
Lucknow: Shalimar Jewels Knight Riders notched up a crucial win over Speed Chargers to finish their round robin stage in second place in Group C of the Night Golf Carnival powered by Lucknow Golf League being played here at Lucknow Golf Club. The result means their players need to be spot on in the skills challenge to have a chance of qualification.
In the night’s other matches, Legends continued their form with a 4-1 win over GS Express while PR Hyundai narrowly missed out on the top spot against IPL Warriors despite winning 3.5-1.5 in their encounter. The action now shifts to the Short Event where teams will be scrambling for as many as 48 points up for grabs to try and make up for off days they may have had.
Shalimar Jewels Knight Riders started strongly with Akshay Singh carding a singles win by a huge 4&3 margin. Karan Pal Singh & Sushant Mishra followed that up with a 1 Up win in the foursome game before RS Nanda & Santosh Kumar Chaurasiya won their fourball game 2 Up to seal the victory.
Legends continued their impressive comeback in the tournament as they won three and halved two games to record four points for the second consecutive match. All three game wins came by a margin of 4 holes with the pair of Sanjay Sinha & Gautam Singh Ahluwalia making it a hattrick. Aman Tandon along with Shikhar Srivastava showed impressive grit to come back in their game and score half a point for GS Express.
In the opening match of the day, IPL Warriors coming off a fast start in the tournament were forced to put on the brakes as PR Hyundai changed their pairings to affect a result in their favour. Vijay Kumar Singh started the winning sequence with a 2&1 win with BD Naqvi & Manish Bhandari winning 2 Up to follow. It was the final pair consisting of captain Dhruv Seth & team owner Harshit Bajaj who scored a narrow 1 Up win to take their team over the line. IPL Warriors’ only full point came via Sandeep Kalsi & Haarsh Srivastava.
