Sharp focus on making life simpler for specially able Divyangjans says Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya
Lucknow: Inaugurating a two-day seminar on ‘Early Identification and Intervention for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities’ at Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya said that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar made education socially relevant for backward people as a means of emancipation from illiteracy, ignorance and superstition. He said that the whole life of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar is a message in itself.
He said that this word has been in vogue after the suggestion of the eminent Prime Minister of India to name the disabled in the Mann Ki Baat program as Divyangjans. He said that there is a need to do two important things in the society towards disabled children, one should be scientific method and the other should be ideological change.
Aids like hearing aids, spectacles, crutches in a scientific way, technical devices and through the schemes and programs of the government.
In theAzadi Ka Amrit mahotsav, it is necessary for all of us together to change the thinking of the disabled, which works to bridge the gap between the capable and the disabled.
It is said that in most of the programs prepared by the double engine government for the welfare of the disabled, there is no sense of kindness, but the concept of equality.
For the education and rehabilitation of disabled people, management of specialized education has been done from primary level to special schools to university level.
He said that the decision has been taken by the Rural Development Department to include such Divyang families of rural areas of the state who are living in houseless, raw, dilapidated houses in the eligibility category of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana-Rural.
In the budget of Uttar Pradesh for 2023-24, adequate budget has been arranged for grant for maintenance of disabled under Divyang Pension Yojana.
The Rural Development Department is bringing prosperity in the lives of the poor with other schemes including the housing scheme. For the first time in the state, the differently-abled have been brought under the priority category for providing housing.
It is a matter of pride for all of us to see that the Panch Teerths have been developed by the government as a mark of respect to Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. All this work is being done under the leadership of the eminent Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi. The government is working fast to make the dreams come true. Giving a corruption free India is the true tribute to Babasaheb. He said that very good works are being done through Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.
He said that now not only smart cities but also smart villages will be built. When those villages are prosperous and empowered then only the nation will be prosperous. He said that if the students of the university want to do research in the Rural Development Department, then the department is ready for it.
He said that India has to be made a developed nation by 2047 and we all have to move forward in this direction together. Said that about 60 lakh people have been given pucca houses in Uttar Pradesh. Not only accommodation, toilets and other facilities have been provided along with the accommodation. Our aim and target is to bring prosperity in the lives of the poor. He said that water has to be made available through tap in every household by 2024 under Har Ghar Nal Yojana.
Mentioning the mantras of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Effort, Respect for Everyone, Place for Everyone, Swachh Bharat, Swasth Bharat, said that we are working without any discrimination in this spirit. He said that you people should dedicate one day for cleanliness in your university. Together we all have to make India number 1 in the world.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister also released a booklet of the University.
On this occasion, Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh threw light on the life philosophy of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and said that the government is serving the poor by following the path shown by him to the country. He added that the study environment in the university is also good and in future, the children here will make a name for themselves at the national and international level.
He said that if permission is granted inside the university, electric buses plying from the city can go round the university. permission will be granted. He also highlighted the facilities being provided by the Transport Department to serve the people. Said there is no sympathy for the disabled, there is a need for sensitivity, there is a need for service.
Vice Chancellor Professor Sanjay Singh and Professor Shilpi Verma also addressed the seminar. Director Divyangjan and Empowerment Department, Uttar Pradesh along with other officers, professors, students were present.
