Lucknow: In the 39th Senior National Rowing Championship held at Army Rowing Node (ARN), Purna, Kiran Devi of Uttar Pradesh got the distinction of getting silver medal in 2000 m women’s single. Kiran Devi’s tough competition in 2000m race was with International Scholar Kushpreet Kaur of Madhya Pradesh and Muranmai Salgaokar of Maharashtra.
It is to be known that Kushpreet Kaur and Murnai Salgaonkar have recently returned after participating in the Asian Rowing Championship held in Pattaya (Bangkok). Kushpreet Muranmai, Kiran Devi continued neck to neck till 1500m. In the last 500m, there was a tough fight between Kushpreet and Kiran Devi and in the last 200m, Kushpreet took the lead.
Kiran tried hard, which resulted in 9 minutes and 44.8 seconds. Silver medal went to Uttar Pradesh after completing the distance of 2000 m. Kushpreet Kaur of Madhya Pradesh completed this distance in 9 minutes 37.04 seconds and Muranmai Salgaonkar of Madhya Pradesh completed the race in 9 minutes 53.4 seconds.
Kiran Devi had received this medal in the 38th national competition held before the Corona period.
