Singapore to help propel business activities in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow:  Francis Chang, Senior Director, Trade and Industry Ministry of Singapore met State Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma at his 14-Kalidas Marg residence. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) played an important role in this meeting. During this, discussions were held to strengthen business relations between UP and Singapore and to increase business activities in various areas.

Urban Development Minister AK Sharma said that Singapore has played an important role in making China primarily resourceful. Singapore keeps its expertise in various fields with new technology. The state should get the benefit of this. He said that the state’s partnership with Singapore includes modernization and development of industries, new townships, systematic development of cities, smart transport mobility, re-use of water sanitisation, water purification, solid waste management, infrastructure, logistics etc.

AK Sharma said that in the discussion, there was talk of development of MSME units of the state and making their products better. He said that MSME industries of the state account for more than 30 percent of the small scale industries of the country, whose better development and good quality products will give momentum to the economic sector in the state.

Industrial park, flatted factory, plug and plough industries will be developed in the state in collaboration with Singapore. This will help in making the state financially prosperous. He said that the state has an important contribution in the development of India. By doing business and industrial partnership with Singapore, we can move forward in this.

Francis Chang said that Singapore wants to elevate the economic interests of both the countries by increasing industrial investment in various areas of Uttar Pradesh to further strengthen its age-old ties with India. Industrialists from Singapore will also participate in the Global Investors Summit to be held in Uttar Pradesh and help in the economic development of Uttar Pradesh.

Munaya Tahar, Assistant Director, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore, and Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, were present during the event.
