Lucknow: For the beer guzzlers in town there is good news, now price of beer will come down in the state. The prices of English and Indian liquor meanwhile is slated to shoot up.
After the new policy laid down by the Excise Department, new prices of beer, desi and English liquor will be introduced in UP. According to information, from April 1, the price of one can of beer could be reduced by up to 20 rupees. While there will be an increase of 5 rupees in domestic liquor. Prices of English liquor are also likely to increase by 20 per quarter.
Reportedly the Uttar Pradesh government has increased the permit fees for foreign liquor, Scotch, wine and vodka. After this, the permit for liquor with ex-custom bond price of more than 600 rupees has been increased.
However, if departmental officials are to be believed, then the possibility of increasing the prices of cheap brands of English liquor is negligible.
