New Delhi: Born in Canada, Christopher Plummer was known for his range as an actor. Rising to stardom as Captain Von Trapp with his role for The Sound of Music, he became popular going on to win an Oscar, two Tonys and two Emmys. He breathed his last at his home in Weston, Conn at the age of 91. Confirming to the media, Elaine Taylor, his wife said he died due to a blow to the head as a result of a fall. He had a prolific stint in the professional world that spanned seven decades. Among his class acts including The Sound of Music are Cyrano, his title role in Barrymore, “Return of the Pink Panther”, “The Man Who Would be King” among others. His first Oscar nomination was for The Last Station.
