Solid network of CCTV cameras to keep check on law breakers in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow: U.P. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath talks about the plan to connect the Integrated Command and Control Center with traffic and to make cities safe cities in every public speech these  days. They say that our cities are now getting smart as well as safe. If a criminal commits an incident at one intersection, the police will take action against him at another intersection. In view of this intention of the Chief Minister, 5000 CCTV cameras have been installed in 16 cities of the state under various departments and schemes. These cameras are monitoring people’s activities at every intersection, major roads, expressways and railway and metro stations.

CCTV cameras have been installed in these cities

This scheme has been started jointly by the Central and State Government. Wherein the center has been helped by the center to install CCTVs in cities like Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bareilly, Jhansi, Saharanpur and Moradabad. On the other hand, grants have been issued by the state government in Ayodhya, Mathura-Vrindavan, Firozabad, Meerut, Shahjahanpur, Gorakhpur and Ghaziabad. Cooperation of private companies has also been taken in their installation. Under the Smart City Mission, where the Urban Development Department took over the responsibility of installation, CCTVs have been installed by UPDA on expressways, NHAI at toll plazas, railways at railway stations and metro administration at metro stations. All these have been linked to the Integrated Command and Control System. On the other hand, installation has been done through private companies for installation in Institutional Finance like Bank or ATM. The Housing Department has become the nodal agency for tax and registration for shops and markets and for apartments and houses.

Monitoring at district and state level

Integrated Command and Control System is being monitored at city and state level. For example, through the Integrated Command and Control System of Kanpur, more than 800 cameras are being covered. Under this, 16 work stations are working. At the same time, 16 smart cities have been connected for monitoring 5000 cameras at the state level. The data received through these centers will soon be filtered and uploaded on the website and through this the common citizens will be made aware.
