Lucknow: In all technical institutes affiliated to AKTU, students will be able to get B.Tech degree in three years. The proposal of B.Tech vocational course has been passed by the Board of Studies. Several steps have been taken to implement the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP) in AKTU. Earlier it was announced to start MTech with PhD. After that, under NEP itself, preparations have been made to be given in B.Tech with general B.Tech in Vocational B.Tech degree (three years).
AKTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra said that continuous work is being done to implement NEP. Many options are being given to the students.
Normal B.Tech will continue as before, but if a student wants to exit in three years, then he will be given a three-year B.Tech vocational degree. To maintain the importance of the three-year vocational degree, 100 hours of industry training will be provided to the students so that the students have industry experience. The Vice-Chancellor said that the new system of B.Tech would be implemented from the session 2022-23 itself.
Provision of minor degrees in several subjects
Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradeep Kumar Mishra said that under this arrangement, the student will be able to take a minor degree in emerging technology of engineering like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, IoT along with whatever subject the student is doing in general BTech. The Vice Chancellor said that B.Tech students will also be able to do B.Tech Honors for specialization in a particular subject.
