Special DG Prashant Kumar happy that justice is delivered in Bikru case

Kanpur: In the gangster case related to the famous Bikaru incident of Kanpur Dehat, the competent court has sentenced 23 culprits to 10 years each. Along with this, a fine of Rs 50-50 thousand has also been imposed. Apart from this, seven accused have been acquitted. In this case, Special Director General of Police Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that due to the effective lobbying of the prosecutors, the culprits were punished.

He told that on the night of 2 and 3 July 2020, a sensational incident took place in Bikru village located in Chaubepur police station area of Kanpur Dehat. In this, eight brave soldiers and officers of the police department were martyred. Those six were injured. Acting immediately, the police registered a case under appropriate sections.

A total of 37 people were arrested in this. Seven people surrendered in the court. Six accused were also killed in police action. The police had registered a separate case in this matter under the Gangster Act. In that case, a historic decision has come on Tuesday. The court has sentenced 23 of the 30 convicts to ten years imprisonment each and a fine of Rs 50,000 each.

He said that it is a matter of great satisfaction for the Police Department that on the basis of the evidence and testimony presented by our investigators and prosecutors of the Prosecution Branch, the court has convicted the culprits.

Apart from this, we are also defending the original cases of murder and attempt to murder. He told that non-gazetted policemen of the level of Director General of Police involved in this discussion and lobbying will be given a prize of Rs 25,000 and DG citation. All the prosecutors will be given a citation on behalf of the DGP.
