Lucknow: Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra held a meeting regarding strict implementation of ban of single use plastic.
In his address, the Chief Secretary said that for the prevention of single use plastic in Uttar Pradesh, a special campaign should be launched from 25 September to 2 October from villages to cities.
During this campaign, hotels, restaurants and shops as well as general public should be made aware about not using single use plastic. During the campaign, plastic should be recovered and the personnel who did good work should be rewarded. Apart from this, strict action should be taken against the factories where ban plastic is being produced.
He said that single use plastic has a big role in pollution. For its prevention, not only single use plastic, but special steps should be taken to stop the use of all types of plastic and to spread awareness among the general public. He said that in the 90s plastic was not used anywhere. At that time people used to carry cloth, jute bags and used earthen/metal utensils or pattals for food. To save the earth, we have to go back to the same old system.
