Lucknow: To mark the 7th International Yoga Day, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) conducted yoga sessions in Transport Nagar Metro Depot and an online yoga practice session of one hour for officers and employees in the presence of a yoga instructor. To ensure adequate physical distancing, only limited employees attended the session in Metro Depot while others joined the online session from their homes.
UPMRC has also been including yoga classes as part of training for all new recruits for over 4 years now. A yoga instructor is engaged for yoga classes held everyday who not just teaches yoga postures but also explains the benefits of each asana, pranayam and meditation.
Stressing upon the importance of yoga, Managing Director Shri Kumar Keshav said, “I have been practicing Yoga for many years now and it has become an integral part of my life. The nature of my work is not only demanding but extremely challenging and yoga has helped me cope with these challenging situations and the stress that comes with it. No matter how busy I am, I make sure that I devote at least 30 minutes to yoga everyday as it has become second nature to me. Yoga helps a person align himself with the nature and helps maintain emotional balance apart from the physical and mental wellbeing.
My inclination towards yoga is easily reflected in the fact that. On this yoga day, I’d say to all those who haven’t started devoting time to yoga, please start. Even if you have a very busy schedule, start by devoting 15-20 minutes to pranayam and yoga and you’ll start feeling a new found freshness and positivity that you’ll never wish to discontinue.”
