SRMS Inauguration of 33rd Scientific Conference of UP State Chapter sees Cancer experts hold discussions

Bareilly: Cancer is not an incurable disease. It is also completely curable. Just lack of awareness, carelessness and lack of specialist doctors become a big hindrance in this. There are misconceptions among the general public as well as experts regarding the treatment of cancer. Because of this, the cases of cancer are increasing continuously.

By removing them, more and more cancer patients can be treated properly. This conclusion is from S.R.M.S. Under the aegis of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India in Medical College, the two day 33rd Scientific Conference of UP Chapter  saw the Bareilly market in the scientific conference and praised it.

The conference which started on Saturday at Sri Ramamurthy Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences was inaugurated by S.R.M.S. founder and chairman, Devmurthy. In this, S.R.M.S. Medical College Director Aditya Murthy, Association of Radiation Oncologists of India National President Dr. Rajesh Vashisht (Batinda), National Secretary Dr. GV Giri (Bangalore), President Elect Dr. Manoj Gupta (Rishikesh), State President Dr. Shaleen Kumar (Lucknow), State Secretary Dr. Surabhi Gupta (Agra), Principal Dr. SB Gupta, Dr. RK Chitlangia (Bareilly), Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee and R.R. The Head of the Department of Cancer Institute and Research Center Dr. Piyush Kumar and Secretary Dr. Pawan Mehrotra participated.

In the conference, Dr. BN Lal Oration Award was given to Professor (Dr.) Manoj Gupta, Head of Cancer Department of AIIMS Rishikesh and Dr. MC Pant Oration Award to Professor (Dr.) Nilay Ranjan Dutta, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha, Madhya Pradesh. In the inaugural session of Scientific Conference, SRMS. Devmurthy, chairman of the trust spoke about the establishment and achievements of the RR Cancer Institute and Research Center established by the medical college with cancer cure in mind.

He explained how world class surgery, radiation and medical oncology facilities are being provided since its inception in 2007. For cancer patients, it is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as TrueBeam and PET Scan with High Energy Linear Accelerator, 30 Channel HDR Brachytherapy and Tumor Board operated.

He also announced to start a state-of-the-art cancer hospital with all facilities. He said that the treatment of all types of cancer will be made available to the common people here. Dr. Rajesh Vashisht, Dr. Manoj Gupta, Dr. Shaleen Kumar, Dr. Surbhi Gupta also addressed the inaugural session. In this, Dr. Piyush Kumar welcomed all the guests while Dr. Pawan Mehrotra thanked everyone.

The Scientific Conference had five sessions on the first day with the inaugural session. In the first session, Dr. Punita Lal of SGPGI Lucknow gave information about head and neck cancer along with cervical cancer. Dr.BK Mishra of Tata Memorial Varanasi gave information about RT and CT in cancer treatment. Dr. Ashutosh Mukherjee of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Varanasi gave information about oral cancer and its treatment. In the second session, Dr. Neeraj Rastogi of SGPGI Lucknow explained about pancreatic cancer and its state-of-the-art treatment methods.

In the third session Dr. Rashi Agarwal of Max Hospital Ghaziabad and Dr. Mrinalini Verma of KGMU explained chemoradiation and primary chemoradiation in oral cancer. In the fourth session, Dr. Yudhveer Singh Nagar, who came from United Kingdom, gave information about the state-of-the-art methods of prostate cancer treatment. Shikha Haider and Dr. Anurita Srivastava from New Delhi gave information about primary chemoradiotherapy in lymph node and cancer.

In the fifth session, Dr. Sapna Nangia of Apollo Cancer Center explained the state-of-the-art methods of treatment of lung cancer. Medical Superintendent Dr. RP Singh, CET Dean Academics Dr. Prabhakar Gupta, Director Placement Cell Dr. Anuj Kumar, Dean PG Dr. PL Prasad, Dean UG Dr. Neelima Mehrotra, all Heads of Departments and Faculty members were present on this occasion.

Dr. Piyush Kumar said that three sessions would be organized in the Scientific Conference on Sunday. In which along with the best paper presentation, a quiz will be organized on the subject of cancer for PG students. Along with this there will be a “Meet the Professor” session. In addition, cancer specialists will read their research papers.
