Lucknow: Like any other event, even Book Fairs which happen in open air and attract large crowds have been hit bad by the pandemic. Needless to say that Bookfair organizers have had to see a long lull in activities. The organizers of the much-respected Lucknow Book Fair have been no exception.
After a long one and half years of wait, the Lucknow Book Fair is finally happening at the Balsanghralaya lawn located in Charbagh starting March 5 and going on till March 14, 2021. The event promises to be an engaging literary extravaganza of writers, thinkers and the worldly-wise who will discuss and launch literature of varied hues.
This year’s Lucknow Book Fair theme will be Atmanirbhar Bharat and will have over 80 stalls which will have books covering genres like bestsellers, philosophy, books on subjects of academic interests, books for children and fables and a special focus on the Hindi and Urdu Zabaan which is typically for the U.P. literary enthusiast.
The organizers have planned book releases, Meet the Writers sessions and youth-oriented programmes which cater to both the millennial and the academically inclined people. The Vishwam Mahotsav which forms a big part of the event will have engaging session for the creative like Inter College Competitions, Open Mic Sessions, Talk Shows, Debating and Save environment campaigns. With selfies, quite a buzz among the young and wise, special selfie points are being set up for the young fashionistas.
The Book Fair will pay a special ode to women in eye care and have special International Women’s Day activities with Mission Shakti at the heart of it. The Book Fair this year will also showcase the work of the Lucknow Police with a broad insight to the functioning of 112, Lucknow Commissionerate and Women Power Line along with Pink patrol.
Among the major participants are National Book Trust, Vani Prakashan, Rajkamal Prakashan, Publication Division, Ministry of I & B, U.P. Hindi Sansthan, Childrens Book Trust, Shri Ramakrishna math, Sultan Chand, Oswal, Central Hindi Directorate, National Council of Promotion of Urdu Language and National Council of Promotion of Sindhi Language.
