Sugarcane crushing season in Uttar Pradesh starts from October 28

Lucknow: This time in Uttar Pradesh, the crushing of sugarcane will start from October 28. It will start with the sugar mills of western UP. On October 28, crushing will start at Khaikhedi in Muzaffarnagar, Afzalgarh in Bijnor, Dhampur, Barkatpur and Kundki mills. After this, Daurala Mill of Meerut will start from 30th November.

Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Department, gave this information in a conversation with the media. He said that since this time more molasses will be used for making ethanol, hence less sugar will be produced as compared to last year.

This time in five sugar mills of the state, Dhampur, Dwarikesh, Mejapur, Faridpur and Barkatpur, ethanol will be made directly from sugarcane juice. Whereas 71 sugar mills will make ethanol from B-heavy molasses. Now this time due to a month’s delay in crushing, the plants of all 120 sugar mills will be run at higher capacity.

He said that about 92 percent cane price of the last crushing season has been paid to the farmers. This time five godowns have also been constructed for the storage of sugar made in the mills of Co-operative and Sugar Corporation. These include Gajraula in Amroha, Nanauta in Saharanpur, Belrayan in Lakhimpur, Kayamganj in Farukhabad and Tilhar in Shahjahanpur.
