Surprise raids conducted against illegal liquor dealers, 97 arrested

Bareilly: Under the joint direction of District Excise Officer and Assistant Excise Commissioner Enforcement, raids were conducted against illegal liquor at various places last month.

Action was taken on more than 135 villages like Bhojipura, Kanchanpur, Gihar Basti, Fatehganj East, Pachaumi, Rautapur, Lalitpur Gautia, Panwadia, Ramganga Cachar etc.

During total 1645 raids, a total of 7371 bulk liters of illicit raw liquor were recovered and about 160 quintals of Lahan was destroyed on the spot. A total of 97 persons were arrested during the raid.

District Excise Officer  VP Singh told in a conversation with Lucknow Tribune that continuous efforts are being made to stop the sale and smuggling of illicit liquor.
