Lucknow: Proving herself as a force to reckon with on the 22 yards, Mithali Raj recently cemented her place as the first woman cricketer who has scored 7,000 runs in ODIs as India and South Africa clashed in Lucknow. A leading run-scorer in women’s ODIs, she zoomed past the 7000 run mark in partnership with Punam Raut in the fourth ODI. This record she made in addition to the earlier when she inked her place as the first Indian woman to score 10,000 runs in international cricket, and the second globally. Her dismissal came in the hands of Tumi Sekhukhune. Raj has managed to go past the likes of former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards in the women’s ODI run-scorers’ list. Mithali has represented India in 89 T20Is, and retired from the shortest format in September 2019. She has made 17 half-centuries in T20Is with a top score of 97 not out.
