New Delhi: A meeting of the Board of Trade under the chairmanship of Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was held at Hotel Ashoka in New Delhi to discuss the issues related to promoting the country’s trade. In which Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Minister of Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI and Investment Promotion of Uttar Pradesh Government, representing the Government of Uttar Pradesh attended the meeting. Minister Nandi placed in front of the Union Commerce and Industry Minister the figure of an unprecedented increase of 77.27 percent in exports of Uttar Pradesh in the last five years under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In the meeting, under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and in the presence of representatives of various states and union territories and representatives of public and private sector, special discussion on the new foreign trade policy (2022 – 20227) was held. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the new foreign trade policy will be implemented from October 1, 2022. Various issues related to promotion of domestic manufacturing and increasing exports were also discussed in the meeting.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that with the collective efforts of the entire trade fraternity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a target of exports of USD 2 trillion has been set by 2030, which every effort will be made to fulfill it. At the same time, India’s new foreign trade policy is going to be implemented from October 1, 2022, which will help more in promoting exports. Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel also addressed the meeting.
Representing the Government of Uttar Pradesh, Minister of Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI and Investment Promotion, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Government of Uttar Pradesh said that exports have a very important and leading role in the strength of any economy. Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state of the country. Adequate quantity of raw material, human resource, huge market is available for the industries in the state for consumption. Uttar Pradesh is fast moving towards the goal of becoming a one trillion dollar economy under the inspiration of the country’s successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the Karmayogi Chief Minister of the state. The export sector will have a special contribution towards achieving this goal.
Minister Nandi said that Uttar Pradesh is the fifth largest exporting state of India. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state’s exports have increased by 77.27 percent from 88 thousand crores to one lakh 56 thousand crores in the last five years. This growth in exports is unprecedented and historic. Our government has set an export target of Rs 3 lakh crore in the next three years and we are moving ahead with a solid strategy to achieve this target.
Minister Nandi said that in order to formulate an export policy that will ensure an effective and holistic development, we have interacted with the eminent stakeholders of the medical tour and travel and education sector associated with the service sector at different times and to take their valuable suggestions. Minister Nandi said that today under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as an export hub and has become the fifth major exporting state of the country. The unprecedented development of airports and expressways in Uttar Pradesh has led to a massive increase in the export potential.
Minister Nandi said that before 2017 only 2 airports were operational in Uttar Pradesh. There are 9 airports operating today. 8 airports are almost ready and 4 new airports are in full swing. Uttar Pradesh is getting the privilege of being the first state in the country to have 5 international airports with 21 airports. Along with this, 37.7 percent of the total expressways of the country are located in Uttar Pradesh. Exports have increased due to better facilities of transportation and transportation.
