Lucknow: Talking of the strong monitoring mechanism to stop the illicit liquor trade in the state, Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary Excise Department has said that preventive action is being carried out regularly by the department to control the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor.
In the previous week 942 cases were registered all over the state in which 31,085 litres of illicit liquor were recovered and 79,891 kg lahan for preparing illicit liquor were destroyed on the spot. Along with it, 300 persons involved in this act of illicit liquor were arrested and 16 vehicles were seized. The Additional Chief Secretary said in the previous week, 238 cases of illicit liquor, a large quantity of fake wrappers, QR codes and a Bolero pickup vehicle were recovered from an under-construction house in district Saharanpur and FIR was lodged against 05 persons under various sections of Excise Act and IPC.
During the raid on a dhaba in district Agra, 69 cases of illicit liquor, 50 litres of spurious liquor, 4200 litres of rectified spirit and other equipments for preparing illicit liquor were recovered. 03 vehicles were seized from the spot and a case was registered against 04 persons under various sections of Excise and IPC.
In another action in Agra district a case was registered against a person, while 1745 bottles of tincture were recovered from a closed shop next to a medical store. In district Lucknow a factory of illicit liquor running in a mango orchard was seized and 1150 litres of illegal spirit, equipments and 06 vehicles were recovered from the spot.
Similarly, 101 cases of illicit liquor, 800 litres of spirit and other equipments were recovered in Fatuhi village of Azamgarh district. Whereas 05 persons were arrested and a case was registered against them.
The Additional Chief Secretary said that enforcement action will continue against the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor. Apart from this, continuous instructions are being given to the field officers to conduct the inspection of excise shops.
