To make rides less bumpy, U.P Dy CM KP Maurya orders roads to be turned pothole free

Lucknow: The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya has instructed the departmental officers to make all types of roads pothole-free by running a special campaign by 15th November, 2021. He has also given instructions that wherever there is a need to repair the National Highway, that work should also be done at the earliest.

He said that arrangements should also be ensured for cross checking of the progress of the pothole removal campaign. Maurya was reviewing the works of the Public Works Department in a high-level meeting held at Tathagata Auditorium located at PWD Headquarters.

Maurya said that wherever the pace of construction works is slow in the state, notices should be issued to the concerned engineers and contractors within three days and action should be taken against the officials who are more lax in the works. If any work is unnecessarily delayed by the contractors, then the process of blacklisting them as per rules should be ensured without delay.

He said that the accountability of the field officers should be fixed so that the funds should be spent by them on time.  Maurya emphasized that the works should be completed on time by making a concrete and effective strategy. He said that approval of new works should be given in every hall in this month and the tender process should be started before that in anticipation of approval.

He said that in the selection of new works, departmental officers should definitely discuss with the public representatives. He directed that the utility certificate of the works for which funds have been allocated in the districts should be called for soon and action should be taken against the officers who do not send the utility certificate in time. Maurya also directed that the officers of the districts should immediately demand the required amount by sending the utilization certificate.

Maurya directed that the announcements made by the Chief Minister and his (Deputy Chief Minister) should be completed at the earliest. He also directed that the notable and outstanding works and projects done by the department during the tenure of the present government and the ongoing projects and projects to be operated in future should be made a presentation.

Specific routes like- (Dr. APJ Kalam Gaurav Path, Jai Hind Veer Path, Major Dhyanchand Vijay Path)  should be completed with paver in width of 5 meters and beautiful and attractive boards should be installed there and nodal officers should also be made to fix its accountability. He said that the highways which have been declared, work should be done on them by making a concrete and effective action plan.

The Deputy Chief Minister directed that entry gates should be made at the earliest on all 105 routes connecting the inter-state border. Slogans like “Welcome to Uttar Pradesh, thank you for coming to Uttar Pradesh” should be written at these entrances. This door should be attractive and good. A plan for naming of routes, bridges and minor bridges should also be prepared and presented.

He said that the roads whose condition is very bad or for which there is a lot of demand, their approvals should be issued on priority basis. The works of the Public Works Department should be done in such a way that there is equality of work in all the assembly constituencies. He also reviewed the works of State Road Fund, Unconnected Habitations, NABARD, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg Yojna, Bundelkhand Development Fund, Purvanchal Vikas Nidhi etc.

In the meeting, Secretary Public Works Department  Sameer Verma, Chief Engineer (Development) and Head of Department Rakesh Saxena, Chief Engineer Manoj Gupta, Chief Engineer Arvind Shrivastava, MD Rajkiya Nirman Nigam SP Singhal, MD Setu Corporation Yogesh Pawar, Chief Engineer  Sanjay Srivastava, Officer on Special Duty  Pradeep Kumar along with other engineers and officers of Public Works Department were present prominently.
