Transport Minister calls for operational efficiency of the corporation’s buses
Lucknow: Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh has instructed the officials to make efforts to improve the operational efficiency of the corporation’s buses in the lean season.
He said that all those measures should be adopted which can increase the load factor and operating income of the corporation’s buses in the lean season. Except on the route covered by a single bus service, no night service with load factor less than 55 per cent should be operated.
He said that care should be taken that restricting the operation of bus services does not cause any inconvenience to the passengers. Traffic should also not be disrupted.
The Transport Minister said that the officials should review the income of the vehicles of the depot and take corrective steps. No night service bus should operate with a load factor of less than 25 passengers.
Provide timely information to passengers about planned changes in departure timings of buses, so that passengers can make their alternative arrangements in time.
Similarly, the timetable of buses running on rural routes should be fixed in such a way that the rural service reaches its destination by 7 pm. It should be inspected that there should not be less than 25 passengers in the bus at any place and corrective instructions should be given to the driver and conductors.
Regular and timely operation of buses should be ensured at every level and for this, the responsibility of the operator-driver should also be fixed as per requirement.
The Transport Minister said that while canceling the bus service, it should be kept in mind that the bus coming from the depot behind the station on the same route where the service is being cancelled, can provide facilities to the passengers till the concerned station. Buses originating from the local bus station should be canceled only in respect of the bus coming from behind, so that no passenger faces any kind of hindrance or inconvenience in completing his journey.
He said that the effort of the transport corporation should be to provide service to every passenger and take the passenger to his desired and safe place.
